What to do... less than 6km

Dompierre, and in particular the "sugar district" where the property is located, was located on the front line during the Battle of the Somme in 1916. An evidenced of this is the

important military cemetery in the village, which contains over 7000 French soldier’s burials.

In Froissy, you can ride the "petit train de la Haute Somme". This steam engine train runs on the former railway line used by the British soldiers to connect the Front to the Rear during the Battle of the Somme, and arrives very close to the lodging. Do not forget to visit the museum, home to many French, German, and British steam locomotives.

The Haute Somme Valley, nearby, rich in remarkable natural sites, allows you to practice nature activities: you can fish or walk along the banks of the Canal de la Somme in Cappy (3 km), discover the "larris" (Sloping calcareous lawn, sheltering a rich flora) of Frise and the gazebo of Eclusier Vaux (5 km), from the top of which you will have a breathtaking view on the valley. At Eclusier there is also a

recently restored anguillere (eels).

A little further, do not miss the swamp of Méricourt sur Somme (12 km), where you can observe many bird’s

species.
